Childhood Summers

Childhood summers were spent

Eating plums from Nonna’s back yard tree

Fresh lemonade

Out of a light blue Tupperware Pitcher

Childhood summers were spent 

Reading paperback books 

On the front porch swing

Yellow and a little rusty

But to us

That swing could sing

Childhood summers were spent

Cousins and I playing word games…
