Book Review: The Tides of Life

The Tides of Life
Learning to Lead and Serve as You Navigate the Currents of Life

by Bill Pollard

Crossway

Christian
Pub Date Apr 30, 2014

The Tides of Life encourages us to think about what our lives will look like, in five, ten even twenty years from now.  It reminds us to think about what we are doing now because it can and will affect our future, and even how we perceive ourselves.  Tomorrow is not a promise, but if we are given tomorrow?  What will our past look like?

Bill Pollard, reminds us too, not to be to quick to judge, because we may not know or understand what a person is going through.  He reminds us that life is not always a bowl full of cherries, and that even Christians have there troubles, there struggles.

In The Tides of Life we are reminded that even if we are not called into full time ministry we can still live a life for Christ.  We can work on our careers and still be a light for Christ.

I found The Tides of Life, to be both inspiring and encouraging and appropriate for anyone who wishes to find encouragement.  It is appropriate for the young and old a like, and worthy of five out of five stats.

Seeing the Voice of God

What God Is Telling You through Dreams and Visions
by Laura Harris Smith

Chosen

Chosen Books
Christian, Nonfiction (Adult)

Pub Date Jan 7, 2014

Seeing the Voice of God, reminds us that the Lord uses both our dreams and visions to reach us, so we should not discount them.  We are reminded too that if we wholeheartedly give ourselves to God through his Son,  Jesus Christ we should expect to talk with him daily.

Smith, points out that even waking dreams are used by God to point us in a certain direction, or to lead us in the way God wants us to go.

The book goes on to describe the different types of prophetic dreams and how the Lord uses them to reach to us.

Not only does this book discuss dreams, but it also highlights the importance of getting the proper amount of sleep, because without that not only are our dreams affected, but our health as well.

If you are looking for a good book on dreams then Seeing the Voice of God is just the ticket.

I give this book five out of five stars.

Pub Date May 31, 2014

The Word of the Lord by Nancy Guthrie talks about the prophets and the prophetic books of the Bible.  In this book  Nancy Guthrie reminds us that we are indeed subject to God’s judgement.  We are reminded that in the prophetic books we will see predictions that Christ fulfilled.

The Word of the Lord by Nancy Guthrie offers a ten week Bible Study on ten prophetic books of the Bible, this book would be a great addition to a group Bible study on the prophets and the prophetic books of the Old Testament.  Each week covers one of ten prophetic books and is eager to follow.

I give this book five out of five stars.
