I am voluntarily reviewing a copy of Beneath A Golden Veil through the publisher and Netgalley:

This book opens up in 1844  Mallie a slave has just given birth to a Son.  From the time she was thirteen Mallie was expected to appease her Masters appetite in unspeakable ways.  Later the night of her Child’s birth she is told the baby did not survive.

IN 1853 Alden brings a young boy to help work in the fields at his parents house, just as another slave Benjamin has run away, leaving the household distraught, and Alden’s Father raging mad.

Isabel Labrie runs the Golden Veil in 1853, but keeps the past hidden the way she hides the valuables of her Hotel Guests.

A Young Woman trying to run away from her past, a law student determined to try and right his families wrongs.

I give five out of five stars to Beneath A Golden Veil.

Happy Reading.
